The journey begins early with a visit to Abu Simbel Temples, located south of Aswan on the shores of Lake Nasser. These extraordinary rock cut temples were built during the reign of Ramesses II in the 13th century BC. The Great Temple is renowned for its four colossal statues of the king, each about 20 meters high, carved directly into the mountainside. Inside, you’ll explore impressive halls decorated with detailed carvings depicting military victories, religious rituals, and offerings to the gods. You’ll also visit the smaller temple dedicated to Queen Nefertari and the goddess Hathor, famous for the rare feature where the queen’s statues are nearly equal in size to the kings. -
